How do I select a tax return to analyze?

Simply copy a PDF copy of your tax return to your phone, or use a cloud drive such as iCloud, Dropbox, or Google Drive.

What file format is needed?

TenForty only works with PDF files. Also, the text in the PDF file should be selectable, text and numbers in images will not be detected. You can use this example Form 1040 to get started.
